Volunteers of America
Volunteers of
America is a national, nonprofit, spiritually based organization
providing local human service programs and opportunities for
individual and community involvement.

From rural America to inner-city neighborhoods, Volunteers of
America provides outreach programs that deal with today’s most
pressing social needs. Volunteers of America helps youths at risk,
frail elderly, abused and neglected children, people with
disabilities, homeless individuals and many others.
The grant
that was awarded to Volunteers of America by Lennar Charitable
Housing Foundation in November 2005 has been directed to Volunteers
of America Sacramento Senior Safe House Program. This program is
slated to begin offering services in early Winter of 2006. It will
provide a home-like emergency shelter for six seniors at a time who
are reported victims of various types of abuse including neglect,
financial, psychological or physical mistreatment. As the first
program of its kind on the west coast, the Safe House will provide
as abused senior with a safer and more appropriate alternative than
what is currently available.

Decent, safe, and affordable housing is what Volunteers of America
strive for. With the same goal in mind, Lennar Charitable Housing
Foundation has the urgency to help create better lives for many.
By coming together, Volunteers of America and Lennar Charitable
Housing Foundation give the transitionally homeless the opportunity
to dream dreams that one day will come true.
