Tri Valley Haven
Tri-Valley Haven was established in 1977 to provide safe shelter to women and children fleeing domestic violence. Soon after, a rape crisis center was added to provide support and advocacy to survivors of sexual assault. In 2001, the Haven began offering services to the Tri-Valley’s homeless and those at risk of homelessness.
Sojourner House, the homeless shelter, has 16 beds, and is the only shelter in the area that accepts two-parent families and single fathers accompanied by their children. Clients receive life skills training to help them attain self-sufficiency, and there is a maximum stay of six months. Residents earn their stay each week by working toward goals they have set with their case managers.
The Haven Pantry provides groceries to more than 3,000 Tri-Valley residents each month who might otherwise have to choose between buying food or paying their rent in full. The Pantry also houses a bilingual English and Spanish parenting support program for families with children ages 0-5.
Tri-Valley Haven creates homes safe from abuse, contributes to a
more peaceful society, one person, one family, one community at a
time. Together we build a world without violence. – Tri-Valley Haven
