The Mission of Lennar Charitable Housing Foundation (LCHF) is…   to end homelessness by investing in shelter and supportive services benefiting vulnerable families and individuals.

Saint Clare’s Home

One day in 1980, Lisa, a young pregnant woman with a two-year-old child approached Sister Claire. Lisa and her son had been living in a car for four days and had not eaten within that time. They asked Sister Claire for help. After making a few inquiries, Sister Claire found that there was no place to send this desperate family.

So she took them home to the small apartment that she shared with her sister. In 1983, Sister Claire rented a house for that family and another woman in need and lived in the house with them. After that many women and children were asking her for help and so she provided her unconditional love and support for them. That was the start of what we now call Saint Claire’s Home.

Saint Claire’s Home has been around for more than 21 years and over 5,500 young homeless women and children have been rescued. Many dreams have been fulfilled for these people with the donations that St. Claire’s has received. The funds have been used to help provide shelter and warm meals, toiletries and clothing, employment and educational counseling and referral, drug and alcohol abuse programs, as well as many other opportunities.

Since 1983, over 5,000 women and their children have found help, hope and support at St. Claire’s Home. St. Claire’s has helped these women and children release their potential and reach for it. They are proud to say that “nine out of ten women who complete St. Claire’s program remain independent and never return to their lives they once lived.”

Executive Director of Saint Clare's Home, Sister Claire Frawley, states that "the funding received from Lennar Charitable Housing Foundation has contributed to the overall success of our clients by providing financial support for the Transitional Program. Since the beginning of FY 2005-2006, our agency has serves 172 women and children; 35 of these clients have achieved excellent results."
