Sacramento Habitat for Humanity
Founded in 1985, Sacramento Habitat for Humanity is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, whose mission is to eliminate poverty housing worldwide and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience.
They rely on the support of the community, corporations, faith based
organizations, service organizations, trade groups, unions and
individuals to meet their goals of providing qualified low-income
families with safe and affordable housing.
This September 11th will be Sacramento Habitat for Humanity’s 20th Anniversary
They are working on finishing their 45th home since they have been around. When Sacramento Habitat for Humanity builds a home, they do everything from getting the land building permit to all of the inspection their selves. When the home is finished and ready to be moved in to, they offer loans at zero percent interest and no down payment.
During the past twenty years this affiliate has built 40 homes,
usually two to three per year when property and funding was
available. 2004 more help was brought in to double the amount of
homes that were produced each year. In 2003-4 there were seven, more
than double the year before, homes completed. With a goal of
thirteen homes for this year we help support their dreams.
