San
Diego Center for Children
Founded in 1887, San Diego Center for Children (SDCC) is the
community’s oldest accredited nonprofit organization serving
children in San Diego County. SDCC provides many services and
programs for children and youth who struggle in life. Serving over
1,200 children annually throughout San Diego County and region, SDCC
has helped many with mental, emotional, and behavioral problems.

Although SDCC is fortunate enough to have many donors, their
donation do not pay for the infrastructure’s needs of building, but
rather the ‘extras’ such as furnishings, pictures and toys. When
Lennar Charitable Housing Foundation (LCHF) made a donation, the
funds went to providing SDCC with the opportunity to re-roof their
adolescent facility. Without the help of LCHF and other foundations,
some of the visions that SDCC has, may never come true.
Helping
kids and families deal with life’s problems, SDCC has become a true
leader to virtually everyone. They have made a visible impact on the
community and its surroundings. By providing an array of proven and
effective mental health, educational and social services, the
children and youths at SDCC will have a more safe, improved and
comfortable living environment. Although some of the children might
not consider SDCC their home, there are many that do and SDCC
improves their efforts to “normalize” their residential cottages
everyday.
