Rescue Mission Alliance
Starting
as the Oxnard Rescue Mission in 1972, the Ventura County Rescue
Mission has grown to help many homeless men, women and children of
the Ventura County area.
It is
estimated that on any given night there are 3,000 to 4,000 homeless
men, women and children in Ventura County. Starting as the Oxnard
Rescue Mission in 1972, the Ventura County Rescue Mission has grown
to help many homeless men, women and children by providing food,
clothing, and shelter.

The Rescue Mission is open every hour, every day, and every year. It
is the only year-round emergency shelter in the county for men and
they support a comprehensive, faith-based Residential program for
recovery from addictions and destructive patterns of life.
Their
experience has been that nearly all homeless people want to change;
they simply don’t know
how to go
about it. Even more difficult for some is how to get to the point of
making that initial commitment. Often fear stands in the way. Fear
of the unknown, of failure, and even success can slice like a knife
through one’s will to start.
Once the
choice is made to begin, clients enter a 9- month
recovery program divided into three phases. During the 9-month
program a wide range of individual services are available to the
resident. Among them are: The Learning Center, assistance with law
enforcement, parole officers, courts, immigration, child welfare or
other agencies.
The Rescue Mission has served the homeless for more than 34 years
and with the love and support from Lennar Charitable Housing
Foundation, as well as many others, they will continue to help
improve lives for many more years to come.
