Orangewood Children's Foundation

In 1981, a
concerned group of private citizens, coupled with community leaders,
established the Orangewood Children's Foundation. This Foundation
was directly responsible for raising more than $8 million which
would later be allocated to the construction of the Orangewood
Children's Home. The volunteer-driven
effort continued when the Foundation produced an additional $3.2
million for the subsequent expansion of the Home in 1992.
Eighty percent of these funds were raised through donations
from the private sector.
On
average, nearly 2,700 children are taken from their caregivers due
to unsafe conditions. With the support of Orangewood Children’s
Foundation these children are able to find the help that they need
and the love that they long for, which will ultimately help shape
their future.
Orangewood
Children’s Foundation is trying to end the cycle of child abuse by
providing innovative programs that are focused on care, prevention,
emancipation, and public awareness. Many children who have been put
into foster care are expected to be able to survive on their own
once they turn eighteen; however, most of them are not able to.
Orangewood Children’s Foundation has been around to furnish those
youths and families with additional aid as well as a support system.
Through
charitable endowments like that of Lennar Charitable Housing
Foundation, Orangewood Children’s Foundation has been given the
opportunity to provide the necessary staples to enhance the lives of
many.
