Human Options
 Established
in 1981, Human Options helps battered women, their families and
communities break the cycle of domestic violence.
It is one of the very few emergency programs to conduct
both quantitative and qualitative studies on the effectiveness of
its programs and the long-term impact those programs have on
domestic violence.
Human Options
is a calm, safe, and welcoming environment consisting of a
hardworking staff and volunteers. The
funds most recently dispersed from Lennar Charitable Housing
Foundation (LCHF) to Human Options were allocated to the funding of
the Family Healing Center. Within four months, this center served
ten families.

Human Options
as well maintains a 24-hour crisis hotline at the emergency shelter,
which is the first point of contact for those women who call for
information or request emergency shelter for themselves and their
children. If rooms are vacant, the counselor refers the women to
their local police department so that the police may furnish safe
transportation to the shelter. If there are no vacant rooms, callers
may check into Human Options’ Safety Net Motel Program which affords
people a few days of morel stays until a room becomes vacant. The
hotline had received 425 calls between January 1 and April 30, 2006.

Saving
countless amounts of lives each year, Human Options has become a
great place for battered women and their children to start their
lives over. It helps people be the strongest that they can be in
their weakest moments in life.
