Coalition for Urban Renewal Excellence

The
Coalition for Urban Renewal Excellence‚ (CURE) is a nonprofit
501(c)(3) organization and only one of a handful of organizations
geared toward providing affordable housing in the greater Fresno
area. With the population in Fresno County expected to double over
the course of the next 30 years‚ the need for affordable housing
will continue to grow as well. It is critical for communities to
find ways to provide for their housing needs; particularly for
families with low or moderate incomes. CURE is ready to meet those
needs. CURE´s mission is to revitalize communities by providing
decent‚ affordable housing.
The
beginning of CURE can be traced back to a grassroots town hall
meeting conducted March of 1999. Several concerned citizens
presented the vision of CURE to builders and other community
leaders. The crux of this vision included providing affordable
housing while working to revitalize the surrounding neighborhoods.
Because of the recognized need‚ $85‚000 was raised in interest free
loans and one rehab home was donated to CURE that evening.

During the past few years‚ CURE has received ongoing financial
support from the local building industry and many local businesses.
CURE has positioned itself to be a major player providing affordable
housing for years to come.
These
accomplishments distinguish CURE as an organization that is
aggressive‚ compassionate‚ and ready to meet the housing needs in
the greater Fresno area.
